Microbiology is the study of microorganisms and their interactions with humans, animals, plants and the environment. Microbiology, a multidisciplinary science , has contributed significantly in the development of various other science viz. Physical, Chemical and Biological. A microbiologist may work in both basic and applied research, clinical settings, processing and quality control of raw food and processed one, public health, environmental protection and other domains of life.

College is successful running the post graduate program in Microbiology to cater the need of industries, research organizations and academics to meet their expectations. Microbiology Department has highly qualified faculty with world class publications in collaboration with the post graduate students. Department has well furnished laboratories equipped with sophisticated instruments such as autoclave, PCR, Gel doc, Fermentor, HPLC, FT-IR, GC, gradient PCR, Fluorescence microscope, Flame photometer, Cooling centrifuge etc.

Eligibility Criteria :

The candidate who have passed the Bachelor’s degree in sciences with subjects in Life science/ Biological/Medical/ Engineering/ Food/Agriculture. Besides this, candidates who have passed the Bachelor’s degree in science with any three of the following subjects i. e. Mathematics/Statistics/, Physics and Chemistry are also eligible. The candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (including optional subjects) in above subjects. The candidates who are awarded grades shall require producing conversion formula for converting the score grade into percentage of marks.
