In India, the opportunities in the field of creative art and culture have witness multifold increase. Today, an art student seeks excellence in creative vision as well as perfection in the skills. TO provide better access to its learners , the department has introduced M.A. The course will lead to quality research and valuable documentations of both traditional and contemporary art of India and the world and will prepare its learner as professional artists. A society cannot be visualized without its art and culture; it is the identity of a nation and its people. To contribute in the growth of the art and culture of country is to contribute in the growth of a nation. An artist contributes by playing as a reformer, a savior, and a documenter. The students of a Department are already making their presence felt in the field of art at state and national levels through active participation in workshops, group and solo shows etc.

Eligibility Criteria:โ
The candidate should be graduate in any discipline with 50% marks. Admission will be purely on merit basis.
Jobs Prospects: Freelancing as an independent artist. Art-designer in electronic media, print media , animation and computer aided designing, illustration, graphics etc. Art director in TV and Cinema, Art-consultant in advertising, photography, photojournalism, Teaching etc.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT :โ
The Department of Fine Arts was established in July, 2003 to offer Fine Arts as an elective subject in Bachelor of Arts. Over the years it has emerged as an important Art centre of study and offers a Post-Graduate course of Drawing & Painting since July, 2016.
VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT:-
This department envisions to promote, proffer and propagate the rich cultural heritage of India especially Punjab. Value based and skill based education is provided to the students to endow them with a holistic personality. We wish to nurture a righteous and responsible generation that is ready to serve the society and the nation in the best possible way.

The department can take pride in the fact it has never compromised with the quality of research and teaching and has tried to work towards the cultivation and refinement of the sensibilities of its students. It has continually and systematically revised and updated its syllabi reflecting the changing concern of the discipline and the emerging needs of the society.

- The Department collaborates with various Organizations (Govt. and Self Financed) in order to provide exposure to the students in the field of art.
- The department has linkages with ROUND GLASS FOUNDATION, SANJHI SIKHIYA FOUNDATION and DISTT. LEVEL AUTHORITIES.
The department invites distinguished visiting scholars and holds workshops, seminars, outdoor working experience of students with Esteemed Foundations and aims to provide artistic experience to our students.
The department aims at producing students who are technically sound and have high confidence level. This would make them ready to be absorbed in the global art market. We empower the students intellectually, morally and professionally.
ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT :-

The department organizes Annual exhibitions. Special emphasis is laid on the interdisciplinary activities through participation of students in different levels of competitions.
ACHIEVEMENTS :-
- The department won the overall trophy of Fine Arts in Zonal Youth Fest 2017.
- The department won the overall trophy of Fine Arts in Inter-Zonal Youth Fest 2018.
- The Department won the overall trophy of Fine Arts and Folk Items in Zonal Youth Fest and Overall trophy of Fine Arts in Inter-Zonal Youth Fest 2019.
- The Students of the department also won Medals, Awards for their Paintings at National level also.
