Mathematics is everywhere in Science. Mathematical tools are needed in each aspect of technology and in community. As the essence of Mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple. PG department of Mathematics is running M.Sc Mathematics course with the variety of subjects ranging from Pure Mathematics to Applied and Computational Mathematics. This course not only opens the doors to career opportunities in Teaching and Research but also in Banking (Government/Private Sector) and Industry. With the changing scenario, the department has established a software lab with C language and MATHEMATICA.
Eligibility Criteria :
The candidate should have passed B.Sc/B.Sc(Hons.)/B.A.(with mathematics as elective subject) with at least 50% marks. The admission of the candidate will be subjected to the eligibility conditions in force at the time of admissions. The medium of instruction and examinations is in English.
Admission Procedure: The admission will be made purely on merit basis.

The course of B.Sc. Honours Mathematics is valuable one that provides opportunities to the candidates of taking some of the subjects of Master’s degree. B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics degree serves as a basis for further higher studies in this field such as M.Sc., Ph.D. and MPhil. Degree in Mathematics, the successful completion of which makes one eligible for the post of a lecturer in any university/college. After completing B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics, one can do post graduation in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Statistics and many job opportunities open up in statistics, mathematical modelling, cryptography, computer sciences etc.

Mathematics
About the Department:
Mathematics Department was established in 1959. Initially, Mathematics was offered to students of B. Sc. Non Medical and as an elective subject in B. A.
With the changing scenario, the department started several programmes of pure and applied nature. To meet the latest demands of industry, the department keeps on periodically updating and revising its teaching pedagogies, research schemes. Post graduation in Mathematics was introduced in 2006-07. Department has produced several Mathematicians who are working in government, semi government and private institutes/universities.
The Department introduced B.Sc. C.S.M. in 2012-13, B.Sc.Honours School in 2014-15. B. Sc. Honors Mathematics and B.Sc.CSM are very popular courses among the +2 (Science and Arts) aspirants. These programmes maintain the balance between theoretical and computational aspects of Mathematics. The Department endeavors to focus on providing a comprehensive curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, relevant research and career opportunities.

- The department has been keenly aware of its role in imparting quality education at graduate and postgraduate level in the field of Mathematics as well as in the Statistics to enhance the capability of applying their skills in various multidisciplinary areas.

Department has established Ramanujan Mathematical Society which consists of Teachers and Students as members. Society organizes different departmental activities such as workshops, seminars and educational tours etc.
