The Postgraduate Department of Botany, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib is dispensing knowledge in field of Plant Sciences in the form of Bachelors in Science, B. Sc. Honours Course in Botany and Masters in Botany. Over the years, Department has gathered several layers of luxuriance and remembrances. At this point of time, we are able to recollect proudly that the numerous generations that entered the premises of this department, studied in its rooms, performed in its laboratories, studied in its gardens and fields and then left to obtain their place of pride within the world and are now well settled in various fields. They’re our strength and additionally substantiate our existence.

The department focusses on imparting practical knowledge to the students along with the theoretical aspect, for which the department has well equipped specialised phytochemical, molecular and cytological laboratories and emphasis is given on imparting practical scientific knowledge to the students and following latest trends in the field of Botany. Department is a young and exciting place to be in and we educationists are fresh by the lustre energy that surrounds us. We watch young students coming from various parts of the State and even from other states and it’s so fulfilling experience to be a part of their journey of growth, both intellectual and emotional. We tend to be with them once they arrive, hesitant and uncertain and then bid them good-bye once they leave us as assured young individuals. It is a task we perform over and yet again however it ne’er falls on us and that we all, in this department, foresee to a future filled with many more generations of bright young people entering into the department and doing us proud.
